The Signet Library weddings in Edinburgh

As Edinburgh wedding venues go, not much compares to the Signet Library. Historically, this Georgian building was completed in 1822 for a visit by King George IV. The king at the time called it “the finest drawing room in Europe”. It remains so until today with its unparalleled architecture and breathtaking spaces.

Exclusive weddings at Edinburgh’s historical Signet Library

The Signet Library is available for exclusive hire during the week. If you choose to get married here, you’ll have the entire building to yourselves. They also offer on-site catering by their exclusive caterer, Heritage Portfolio.

The ideal venue for a book-lovers’ wedding

The Signet Library is the perfect wedding venue for couples who have a passion for history and literature. I think it would also be ideal for a magical Harry Potter themed wedding, given its close proximity to some of J.K. Rowling’s favourite writing spots.

The library is located in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, making it close to other historical sites you might wish to share with your guests. This includes Holyrood House, the National Museum of Scotland, and St Giles’ Cathedral to name a few.

Edinburgh Signet Library wedding cost, capacity, and more

The Signet Library offers three distinct areas which can host your wedding ceremony and celebration. Depending on your requirements, these can take up to 220 guests for your wedding breakfast, and 400 standing guests for a reception. Prices are available upon request. They work exclusively with Heritage Portfolio for catering, meaning you cannot add your own caterer.

What makes the Signet Library a unique wedding venue in Scotland?

The Upper Library’s classic pillars and magnificent ceiling make it a breathtaking, rather iconic spot for ceremonies. Plus you’re surrounded by bookcases filled to the brim with old texts - a dream come true for book lovers seeking an unusual place to say their vows.

The history and importance of the building mean you’ll be able to come back and see it again for years to come. It’s a great place to share with future generations who will be just as eager to see the finest drawing room as your guests.

Signet Library Wedding - a multicultural celebration
Classically-styled October wedding at Edinburgh’s historic Signet Library. Claire and Ekow’s soft colour scheme, sparkling bridal party attire, and bespoke ceremony were beautiful against the backdrop of the Signet Library. But their multicultural and multi-generational day really made it special.
