Edinburgh Castle wedding photographer
When Kati and Tom asked me to photograph their wedding in Edinburgh, I was in for two surprises.
When Kati and Tom asked me to photograph their wedding in Edinburgh, I was in for two surprises. On the one hand, Kati is from Finland and, on the other hand, they chose the venerable Edinburgh Castle for the scene of their wedding. With this opportunity, I have now had the chance to photograph brides from all three countries on the Scandinavian Peninsula: Norway, Sweden and Finland. What's more, I can finally add an Edinburgh Castle Wedding to my portfolio.
The bridal preparations were underway in a cheerful mood – to my delight, speaking mostly Finnish – at the elegant George Hotel in the heart of town. From here, I hurried ahead in a taxi to Stockbridge Church, to take a few photos of the bride on her arrival. Yet another pleasant surprise was to see Reverend Neil Gardner who was the same Minister who had married another lovely couple that I had photographed at the Canongate Kirk on Royal Mile.
On their arrival from the ceremony, the crowd of guests was greeted at the Edinburgh Castle with the sound of bagpipes on the slightly gloomy day, although the small gaps in the clouds offered some promise of a brighter afternoon. The evening progressed within the stately walls of the Edinburgh Castle, in the Queen Ann room; with spectacular views, spiced with harp music, in a convivial mood; reaching its height during the ceilidh dance.
Meanwhile, the weather also had mercy on Kati and Tom, because for a quarter of an hour even the sun peeked through the clouds, for just long enough for me to take a few pictures of the couple, the two of them with the heart-warming Edinburgh Castle in the background. Congratulations to Kati and Tom, and my thanks for the privilege of being part of this celebration and contributing to its success.
